Christmas Recipe
I’m sharing a delicious Yule log recipe made with just a few ingredients and no baking required. 🎅
I used unsweetened chestnut puree, which helps reduce the calorie count without sacrificing flavor or texture in this festive dessert. This recipe was inspired by Kélou’s “Express Chestnut Chocolate Log”. It’s a simple and quick Christmas dessert to prepare!
Préparation : 20 min
Réfrigération : 10 heures
Ingredients (Serves 6)
- 220 g (7.8 oz) unsweetened chestnut puree
- 110 g (3.10 oz) dark chocolate
- 60 g (2.1 oz) butter
- 2 tablespoons cane sugar
- ½ teaspoon (1 g) of agar agar
Step 1 : Get the Mold Ready
Line a Yule log mold roughly 8.7 in x 3 in ( 22 cm x 7.5 cm) with plastic wrap.
Step 2 : Butter and Agar-Agar
- In a small saucepan, melt the butter. Once it begins to melt, add the agar agar, mixing well with a spatula.
- When the butter starts to bubble, reduce the heat and stir for one minute to activate the agar agar.
- Remove from heat, add the chocolate, and let it melt gently.
Step 3 : Mix the Chestnut and Chocolate
- In a bowl, mix the chestnut puree with the powdered sugar.
- Once the chocolate has melted, stir it well with the butter, and then fold it into the chestnut puree.
Step 4 : Assemble the Log
- Pour one-third of the mixture into the bottom of the mold using a tablespoon.
- Arrange the small meringues in a row in the center.
- Cover with the remaining chocolate chestnut mixture, smoothing the top. After cooling, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 10 hours.
Step 5 : Time to Decorate !
Carefully unmold the chestnut chocolate log and set it on a serving plate.
Decorate it just before serving, however you like!
Happy eating and Merry Christmas !🎅
Gisou’s Tips and Tricks
Be wary of the texture of your chestnut puree. Mine was once a bit runny and the meringues floated to the top! It was a disaster! 😕 I had to wait for it to set before pushing them down!
