Oven-baked treat
Here’s a recipe featuring cinnamon-infused apple slices cut into rounds, making them look like little donuts. They are baked in an oven, making them less greasy than traditional donuts. 🍎
This recipe can be enjoyed during the carnival season or for any other celebration. I was inspired by the recipe found on the « Recette Thermomix » website.
Ingredients
- 2/3 cup (80 g) white spelt flour or all-purpose flour
- 3.5 fl oz (100 ml) milk
- 2 Golden Delicious apples
- 1 egg
- 2 tsp (4 g) ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp (5 g) baking powder
- 1 tsp (5 ml) grapeseed oil
- 1 tsp (4 g) cane sugar
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180 degrees Celsius).
- In a bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and oil.
- Add the sugar, cinnamon, flour, and baking powder.
- Mix well until you obtain a smooth and homogeneous batter.
- Place a sheet of parchment paper on a baking sheet, then brush it with a little oil using a brush.
Peel the apples, remove the core, and cut them into regular slices. - Dip each apple slice in the batter and place them on the parchment paper.
- Bake the apples slices in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes at 350°F (180°C), using the convection setting on the third rack level.
- Remove them from the oven and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
These apples slices can be served cold, warm, or hot ! Enjoy !
Gisou’s Tips and Tricks
- To ensure success with this recipe, the batter should have a consistency that is neither too liquid nor too thick, allowing it to coat the apple slices properly.
- I use an “apple peeler” that allows me to peel and remove the core of the apples at the same time! Then it’s just a matter of cutting the apple on one side with a knife and gradually taking slices of apple. This saves a lot of time during the preparation of the recipe.
